Ummm... is this permanent? 😳

Hey Reader,

"I'll just go for 3 months and get it out of my system." That's what I told myself when I made my first plans to move to the UK. And then it was, "I'll just go for a year to fully experience London."

Spoiler alert... I stayed a liiiiiittle past a year. Here I am 5 years later and still loving my life abroad. But it wasn't my original intention. Slowly, slowly over time I realized how much I loved it and how much I wanted to stay. But it wasn't always like that. At first, I planned to just come to the UK for 3 months to "get it out of my system". HA! 🤪

Sometimes our plans change. Sometimes we don't actually know what we will want in the future.

You might be thinking you'll move abroad for only 1 year. But you might get there and realize you want to stay longer. Maybe it will be an extra year, maybe it will be 5 or 10 years or maybe it will be forever. You might not know until the time comes and that's okay.

I met an American recently who told me she was living in London "until further notice". I love that. It leaves the option open for you without the pressure of needing to know. So if you want to move abroad "until further notice" then it's good to make sure you're leaving that door open for yourself.

One way to do this is to get a visa that can lead to permanent residency and/or dual citizenship so that you have the choice to stay or to go. By strategizing which visa type you get, you're giving yourself the option to say, "I'm here until further notice." It's giving yourself the freedom to choose if and when you want to move back home (if ever). 😉

This week's episode of the Move Abroad Podcast is episode 52: How to move to another country permanently. It doesn't mean you have to stay forever. But it's nice to know you have the option. Listen to this week's episode to learn how to get on a visa path where you have the choice to stay. We also talk all about permanent residency and dual citizenship - what both of these things mean and which country do and don't allow it (some countries really suprised me!). Here's the link for ya:

Have a great rest of your week!

Hey Reader, How has life been lately? My life has been HECTIC. In the best way though. I packed up my London flat I've lived in for 5 years, and moved into a one-bedroom flat right on the river in London (😍). I unpacked as best I could, but there's definitely boxes everywhere still and my mattress is literally on the floor like a college-aged boy while I find a bed frame. But hey ho! 😂 Anyways, I had 2 nights in my new flat before flying to Cape Town (pics below!) for 4 weeks. And then after...

Hi Reader, Are you also in shock that we only have 2 weeks left in the year? I'm absolutely shooketh. I'm pretty sure I say this every year... but wow this year just flew by. I don't normally do this, but I actually set goals for the year back in January. I looked back at what I wrote down and I didn't hit everything perfectly on the nail, but I was pleasantly surprized. Here are a few of the goals I had set: Find and build strong female friendships Build a business that feels good and launch...
